Don Ross wsg Brooke Miller

Live Show Review

Last Saturday night The Place Concorde in Windsor played host to two Canadian guitar soloists, Don Ross and his wife Brooke Miller played to a full house of long time admirers. Members of the crowd eagerly shouted names of songs that they wanted to hear Don perform. As promised Don tried to please everyone, but asked that they keep in mind that he may not remember every tune they requested. The crowd was in awe of his high speed and incredible accuracy as he relentlessly plucked away at his guitar. It was definitely something that could only truly be appreciated in person.
Don Ross is legendary in his finger style guitar playing and being famous for the emotion and intensity of his playing. He is also well known for his use of extended technique and he is a two time finger style champion.
Don’s wife Brooke Miller, who is also a singer-song writer, opened up the stage setting the tone for the evening. Brooke reminded me of Sarah McLachlan only her instrument of choice being the guitar instead of the piano. The musical husband and wife did share the stage for a duo or two at various times in the evening, which pleased the crowd even more.
