More Detroit Music History - SCION Launches iQ Project Museum Featuring Strata Records

SCION TO LAUNCH THE IQ PROJECT MUSEUM: A DIGITAL ARCHIVE OF RARE ARTIFACTS THAT AIMS TO SPOTLIGHT
UNDER-RECOGNIZED MUSICIANS

The Strata Records exhibit takes us on a tour of the Detroit art gallery, music venue and record label started by trumpeter Charles Moore  and pianist Kenny Cox  n the late 1960s. Motown had already relocated to Los Angeles, but back in Detroit, something heady, funky and downright revolutionary was brewing. That “something” was Strata, a magnetic center for the Detroit jazz scene as well as a destination for heavyweight musicians like Charles Mingus, Ornette Coleman, Elvin Jones, and Herbie Hancock  when they came through town.

The digital museum showcases John Sinclairs' impact, the acts that played at the Gallery venue, old concert posters that documents the range of talent was involved, their catalog, a snapshot into the business of the label and much more. All delivered in a user friendly way that's built for music and car fans.
